Giving Opportunities

Annual Giving

Annual gifts to Mu Phi Epsilon are a tax-deductible way to demonstrate your belief in the philanthropic activities of Mu Phi Epsilon and in support of the arts.

The Mu Phi Epsilon Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization founded in 1963 to receive contributions and administer the scholarships and philanthropic activities of Mu Phi Epsilon. Unrestricted annual donations are used to fund Fraternity grants, scholarships, operating costs and the vital programs that make our mission possible. Each August the Foundation launches a new Annual Giving campaign.

Because of the generous support of donors who give annually, we are able to make an immediate impact on the Fraternity, its members, and the larger community. Donors to the Annual Fund are recognized and celebrated through the following circles:

  • We appreciate each and every member who donates to the Foundation at any level. Your support, each and every year, makes our programs, scholarships, and grants possible!

  • In honor of our three core values, the Triangle Circle honors donors who have made an annual gift of $1,000 – $4,999.

  • In honor of the Fraternity’s founders, Professor Winthrop S. Sterling and Elizabeth Mathias, the Founders Circle honors our generous donors who have gifted an annual contribution of $5,000 or more. Those listed have made a substantive difference in our ability to advance music through generous philanthropy.

  • The Lyre Circle is an annual giving circle exclusively for collegians that honor their gift of $5 or more.

  • The Gold Society recognize young alumni donors who embody our standard of philanthropy.

Lifetime Giving

Mu Phi Epsilon’s cumulative giving levels allow us the opportunity to acknowledge donors who have made a significant investment in our mission.

With the support of our generous life-long donors, the Mu Phi Epsilon Foundation is able to advance the lives of Mu Phis worldwide. The Foundation is honored to recognize our time-honored donors through the following cumulative giving levels:

  • A donor is classified as a Golden Benefactor after having given at least $1,000 across a 10-year period.

  • Donors who have continued their lifetime support and have contributed at least $2000 across a 20-year period will be classified as a Double Golden Benefactor.

  • Donors who have reached at least $3,000 in lifetime support across a 30 year period will be classified as a Sterling Benefactor.

  • The Onyx Circle is open to donors who pledge the sum of $5,000 or more to the Foundation over a period of ten years or less. Once you complete your pledge, you will be presented with a glass memento designed by Jeffrey Hoover, PhD.
